Do I send my kids to there father or keep them? I posted recently about my kids going to a dirty house on the weekend. He won't clean or hire a maid which I found for cheap! He already said, "Look don't tell me how to run my house, If you don't want to send the kids because its too dirty, keep them" So now my choice is.. Send the kids to a dirty house, rugs never vaccumed with dirty and dog hair everywhere, shower black with dirt, dust everywhere, fridge will never be clean sticky stufff everywhere, He sweeps once in a while and occationally mops. Not to make it shine just to part the dirty, if you know what i mean. But the will be with there father and get to know him and have a relationship. 2nd Choice Keep them, and they won't see there father and might complain when there older, he might give me trouble like child support payment and/or if an emergency, he won't help. kids ages 6, 5, 4, and 1 years old he doesn't want me to clean, and he wouldn't help me if i did because he is fine with filth. He is clean for himself people, if you saw him you wounldn't think he was a pig. He is professional. I am not talking messy, I am talking nasty house, sticky dusty, dirty, grimmy he doesn't want me to clean, and he wouldn't help me if i did because he is fine with filth. He is clean for himself people, if you saw him you wounldn't think he was a pig. He is professional. I am not talking messy, I am talking nasty house, sticky dusty, dirty, grimmy

I want to paint my walls a different color other than white, the color it is now. i have a hardwood floor right now, but have huge rugs that are burgundy and some are burgundy and the center is a tan color. my kids are 7 & 8 yr olds so i dont wont carpet just yet. but when i do i want a burgundy color. i have my living room thene is magnolias. the back ground color of the pictures are a tanish color. the color i think is the closest to matching is a pecan twist. i found the color swatch at wal-mart. anyway someone help please. and also what color couches would look good with all these colors? because i want to change it also. right now i have a huge blue sectional. i want just a regular couch and chair what colors would look good. thanks in advance!!
Why are my dogs and/or cats peeing on the bathroom rugs? I have two doxies and two cats. I know that one of the dogs has peed on every bathroom rug in the house. Yes, they get washed afterwards. I think one of the cats (male but fixed and new to the family) is doing it too. I think this because cat pee smells worse but I can't be sure. I have caught none of them. I have washed the floors with Nature's Miracle. I have treated the rugs, set them out in the sun (kills urine bacteria) then washed them in the machine. Nothing seems to work. I keep the bathroom doors closed, but they always manage to get in (we have kids). Any ideas? Oh.. I figured the smell might be lingering so I have tried both treating the rugs first AND actually put a new rug in the downstairs bath (where the problem is nearly daily). I washed the floor first (because tile is porous and maybe the smell is in the floor) AND used the Nature's Miracle on the floor! My bathroom is spotless! No boys peeing on the floor.... And they've already peed on the new rug 3 times! More details: We have a dog door so the dogs can always go out..and I work from home so they aren't lonely. I like the onion idea and that's next on my "try" list. I have been spraying the rug with "pet off" spray which smells like cilantro. It worked for two days but today we got a surprise. This time it smells like one of the dogs did it. I think the repellent to train them all to stay out of the bathroom may do the trick..now if I can just find the right one...sigh..
What rug materials are safe for kids? I have two kids under the age of 3 and I wanted to purchase an area rug for our family room. There are a ton of different materials offered for sale on the internet. What is the best material that is safe and non-toxic since they will most likely be playing on it all the time. Also I know some of them shed like crazy and I'm worried about it getting into their lungs. I don't care about price...just want the safest.
How do I get my darn kids to listen to me? I got a couple of rug rats at home (5, 8 respectively) anywhay, the darn kids get my walls all full of their crappy drawings of wizards and unicorns and such. Its already cost me a load in new paint and whatnot! (they draw on it will colors or markers or whatever they can get a hold of with their grubby little hands) I just wanna grab them by their dirty hair so hard and throw em into an attic and not worry about them for months! LOL! Of course, thats against the ol' law so no-no to that LOL! Anyway, what can I do? Everytime I try to get them to behave they cuss me out and kick my shins What do I do? I feel like dying... ok, first of all --- i am a father, not mother second of all.. you are all idiots.
Does anyones kids stuff their pants for a spanking? My daughter the last time she got a spanking stuffed toilet tissue in her panty. Both my girls oddly misbehave more when they wear dresses. My husband had to chuckle when he seen our daughter over my lap with toilet paper on the rug. My daughter thought that Mommy would not see her panty puffed up! Has any other kids did this?
Have you ever used "Carpet Tiles" from somewhere like Lowes? Rather than rugs or wall-to-wall? I am in dire need of carpeting in our upstairs. We have what used to be beige but we also have kids and pets. The wall-to-wall up there is over 14 years old. To save money, I was looking at Lowes and saw they have carpet tiles. Are these similar to bathroom tiles, only carpet? Don't seams show or squares come loose? Any firsthand knowledge of these would be so appreciated.
At My wits end! How to get these kids to respect their belongings? I have twins, 7 year old girls. They'll be 8 in Dec. Anyway, we were fortunate enough until last year to give them just about everything that a couple of little girls could want. They have a ton of toys, video games, movies, and even have 2 computers in their bedroom. They have a hamster in their room as well. Anyway, we are not so fortunate now as my husband lost his job. The girls have always abused their personal belongings. I want them to have nice things , so I replace them. They continually trash their room putting hamster food and water in their kitchen set and in their rug. They constantly have papers and toys all over the floor. Their dolls are colored on. Their dvd collection only half works because they just throw the dvds on the floor or wherever when they're done watching them. I put them to bed and when I go in their room to check on them, I find them sneaking back over to the bed.
What is the best play mat for kids? ? My 7 month old is learning to crawl. We have all hardwood floors and I am worried on it being to hard for his little knees. We are thinking about getting some of those giant foam puzzle piece flooring kits to set up in his room to make a soft crawling environment. There are so many different baby rugs/play mats out there. Any of you moms have suggestions?
What are some nicknames or pet names you have for your kids? when they are being adorably rotten? Mine were usually: rug rats, curtain climbers, puddle jumpers, ankle biters, or just plain...full of prunes! lol What were yours? Oh my gosh, lol, you guys have reminded me of a few others we called ours like: stinker pot, turkey toot, my daughter was called punkie doodle and my son was called Super Fred the monkey boy ( his name is Jacob, but he has these big cute jiggly ears like a monkey). They would just die if they knew I was telling you guys this, but they are 15 & 18 now and I am a little sad they are growing up so fast! Just reminiscing a little bit!!!
Will a dirty house make my kids sick? My kids stay with there fathers on the weekend. And boy is it dirty. I would rather use a public bathroom then his! How can I send my kids over with such a dirty house. He has two dogs also that shed so much. I want to keep the peace, but the rugs hasn't been vaccumed since I left 10 months ago. He does a bs job of cleaning just to make space for more garbage. Move the dirty out the way, but leave the things to the side. He might mop, if the floor is so stick it keeps getting his foot dirty. Other than that forget it. He doesn't want to here anything from me. Should I be concerned? Or am I being petty? The house is nasty! I don't care about messy, I am talking nasty, but he doesn't see it. He never cleaned when I was with him, never really help me. So now he gets my kids on the weekend. They are too young to clean. Would like to add, the shower is black with dirty, never cleanded, Fridgerator you wouldn't want to put your food inside, Thank God he has a dish washer, I can say the dishes are clean My concerns are Dog hair- what is the effect of high amounts of dog hair, I am sure they ate a few also, since its everywhere. Also, the dust build up. I don't think he will ever dust. What for? The nasty shower, The toilet area and sink area, he sometimes clean. But kids make it dirty, with urine. 4 kids under the age of 7. Those would be my concerns. Anyone who says, I should not let my kids come over. He has told me, if my house is to dirty for the kids to keep them. He won't clean, because I want him to! So, what then?
I would like to buy a dog-shaped rug, similar to a white bear rug kids lie on.? Orvis used to have them but they discontinued selling them. I have looked all over the Internet, but can't find what I want. It needs to be the color of a golden retriever. The body is flat, but it has a stuffed head with ears, nose, eyes. It could be sold as a kids play mat. Does anyone know where I might find one? Here is the link to the bear that is similar: http://www.orvis.com/store/productchoice.aspx?pf_id=59TYs&dir_id=1137&group_id=11683&cat_id=17157&subcat_id=17158
Can I use Oxyclean in a rug doctor? Im trying to get some nasty black stains out of my rugs. Its from my kids tracking in dirt. A friend said the best thing to use is oxyclean. Is this True. Can I use it in a rug doctor. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Whats the darkest kids movie? I was just thinking about the disney movies back in the 90s and realized they were kinda dark for kids. My favorite was the hunchback of Norte dome. How frollo lust after the girl and would sing about hellfire. So could anyone suggest really dark kids movies. Doesn't have to be Disney. Like the rug rats movie.
A way to recover a natural fiber rug that got soaking wet? Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
Best way to keep cats away from carpet? Bringing home a beautiful new dining room rug tomorrow. How can I keep my husband's cats (I'm a dog person, myself) from either sharpening their claws on it, urinating on it and/or pulling out the fringe? They've done all three before. The urination is infrequent, thank god; but this is an oriental with a white/cream background. One accident is too many. The claw sharpening goes on constantly. Hubby won't keep them properly clipped, and I'm allergic ... I'll sneeze the rest of the day if I do it. One of the pair (these cats are neutered 6 year old brothers) is a particular freak for the fringe. Is there a product out there that won't harm the rug, cats or kids in the house, but will just keep the kitties the hell away from it? Thanks! oh, and they're prize pukers too. is there no hope for my rug? (or, for that matter, no hope for my cats either?) tjb: good point about buying the rug in the first place. i've inherited it. we're closing out my mom's house tomorrow.
How to get the police to respond to a dangerous situation on Halloween? I need to report a party with drunk noisy kids, I know they will be on all sorts of rugs. I tried reporting the party last year but the poliece seemed to think they had more important things to do. These teenagers shouldnt be making taht much noise, and shoul;dnt be running arround drunk and on these different pills! What can I do to get the police to take action this year?
I have a new puppy...how do I teach him to stop biting and chewing everything??? He is a little long haired chihuahua and is 10 weeks old. He bites and chews anything and everything he sees. I do have puppy toys and bones but he still likes to chew rugs, furniture, kids toys, etc. I know this is normal puppy behavior, but I have heard it is a bad habit that you don't want them to continue. Gregr, Why a chihuahua? I actually have two chihuahuas and really love them. Mine are very affectionate, loving, & loyal. Chihuahuas are very good watch dogs and I am always joking with people that they are a cheap security system. Also they are small and do not take up a lot of room or make a big mess.
How can I stop my cat from inappropriate urinating? I have a neurotic 8 year old female who is urinating in inappropriate places like on top of my dryer, on my stove top, on the dish towel where the dishes drain, bathroom rugs, etc... She has always been neurotic and nervous. I have her 8 yr. old sister who is dominate frmale in the house hands down. Last year my daughter rescued a kitten from being tortured by neighbor kids. All three are fixed, litter box trained AND have access to outside too. Since the baby cat has come into the home the problem is becoming a nuisance between the two. I am on the verge of giving the older cat up for adoption because I just can't tolerate the neurosis anymore. However, she is a one person cat, born & raised with us, and I don't think she would fare well in another home without us and that makes me feel guilty. So, the only solution is to find how to make her stop. I've closed off access to as much as I can like bathrooms and the dryer.... Help!
What brand and model vacuum should I buy? I have hardwood floors, area rugs and mediaum pile carpeting. I have no pets, but two young kids (just as dirty as pets). What brand and model vacuum do you think I should get to meet all my needs. I like Dyson, but don't know if the price justifies the results. I have heard good things about Miele. I had an Orek and did not like the scent of burning rubber that it always had. What do you like and why?
how can I keep furniture from moving on tile ? We just moved and our new living room is all tile flooring. My couches keep dancing closer to the television and it's making me crazy! I've already tried a rug, and that anti-slip grip stuff you put under rugs to no avail. I have three kids and everytime they throw themselves onto the couches, they move. Is there anything I can buy ? Perhaps some old helpful addage? Help!!!!!
Is it a good idea to paint on old floors like press wood? We replaced the carpet in most of our house with hardwood but kept the carpet in our kids rooms because the money was tight. Well now, while painting in our oldest daughters room we had an accident so we had to remove the carpet. I cant afford to replace the carpet or put hardwood down now so I want to just paint the floor and use rugs as a temporary fix. The problem is the floors of this house are presswood (horrible stuff). So will this work at all, and if so how should we go about it?
How do I cover concrete so that it is not cold for a three season porch? I have a three season type porch, due to the fact that the floor is concrete. I would like to make this an all season room, that my kids can enjoy and play on in the colder weather. How do I cover the concrete so that it is not so cold? What do I need to use, I would like to put carpet out there. I have some area rugs on it now and it doesn't seem to do much. Please help. Thank you I would just like to add that I would like to make this permament. I do not want to do a temporary thing. The room is very cold due to the floor being concrete, The heater and heating vents do not keep it very warm. What can I do, or what do I need to do to make the floor not cold.
What is the best type of area rug? Looking for something that is durable. Easy to clean and will look good for a long time. handmade, machine made, heat set? wool or some other material? also, is a handmade rug a responsible purchase or were kids and women slaving over it for pennies?
I need ideas for a padded floor for my basement? I have a finished basement and this is where my kids primarily will play and watch movies. I have all boys so I need ideas of how i can cushion the floor for rough and tumble play. Rugs don't offer enough padding.Any suggestions?
As far as merchandise for fans goes, who agrees that the kids are pretty lucky these days? I was perusing NHL.com's Shop... and I noticed you can buy everything but the kitchen sink (which will be available soon, I'm sure) with your team's logo on it. Light fixtures, dinnerware, furniture, bedroom sets, rugs/mats, office supplies... The list goes on and on. There's a lot of fun stuff for kids too; in fact, they're selling back-to-school merch right now. Example of NHL.com's assorted "back-to-school" backpacks and bags: http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2561158&clickid=body_rv_img That is a sweet frickin' messenger bag. I guess a con of the many cool things you can buy is that they're, well, pretty darn expensive. However... if any of you want to buy that for me so I can put my laptop in it, just e-mail me. :P Haha, as an experiment, I should buy a bag with a Flyers logo on it and walk around Pittsburgh to see how long it is before I'm mowed down by a U.S. Postal Service truck... Just kidding. NOAH - AHH, FOR SURE! Lol! Old school knob hockey. That's really sweet. fugutastic - I agree, that wearing a jersey to a game doesn't make you a fan---but I love junk. Lol. And the USPS thing was just an inside joke, I guess.
We are moving out of our apartment complex and I would like to know what normal wear and tear is? When we moved into our apartment complex 5 years ago I did a walk through with a piece of paper and gave it to the landlord. There was already black wax stains on some of the carpet. The complex has the rugs cleaned professionally every time a tenant moves out. Our apartment has tan carpet and over the years with us having 3 kids and all it has gotten stained in some areas. Would that be considered normal wear and tear after 5 years?
How to keep a rug on a thick carpet? Hi, I have a thick soft carpet at my new place. I have put a rug at my dining area so my kids won't drop food and drinks on the carpet. But I can't keep it hold as it moves when we walk on the rug. Since the carpet is thick, rug moves and it raises (lumps) near the table and chairs legs, making hard to move around. Does any one have an idea how to keep my rug in place without running around. Cheers
Preschool bathroom sign for kids to clean up - offensive? My kid's preschool has a bathroom for use by 3 & 4 yr olds (both boys & girls). It is between the 3yr olds and 4 yr olds rooms, has 2 low sit-down potty's and a low sink, everything just the right height. On the doors leadign to the bathroom, there is a paper with this sign in bold "Your mother doesn't work here, clean up your mess". The kids can see this from their tables and sit-down-rug area. I feel this is a funny & effective sign in grown-up places like offices, but out-of-place here. My kid asked me ?s like do only mothers clean up. And told his playdate-friend, your mother doesn't live here, pick up your toys!!" I'd like to request them to replace it with some more kid-friendly sign like a cartoon character or a "clean up" nursery rhyme etc. or some age-appropriate printout from the web. My husband says, it is just a sign, leave it. I think it is OK for me to atleast mention it, and I could also take along couple of alternate signs ? Should I or just leave it? Yes, most 3 yr olds can't read such big words. But, seeing them everyday for a year, and having a parent read it to them, they can "read" these words like they can read other "sight" words like STOP, GO, YES, MOM, McDonald :-)
Any ideas for a cheap book center at a preschool? I need to help build a book center for $250 or less. I need 2 book shelves, and maybe a nice rug or some beanbags for the kids to be comfortable. Any suggestions on online stores or catalogs that are cheap? Thanks!
how do i rejuvinate my shag rug? i have had a shag rug for more than a year and the area my kids love to sit it is all smooshed down.....even when i vaccuum...The area under my coffe table is like it used to be when i vaccuum. how can i make it pop back up like it used to?
what is the material for a soft heavy duty rug? i am looking for an area rug in my family room. as i have three small children and lots of traffic in the family room i need something really durable and easy to clean. also since the kids, and other family members sit on the floor a lot to read, do homework, or play. i need something that is really soft and not prickly. does anyone have any suggestiong as to what material i should look for, how much it should cost, or some good companies. thanks.
My cat likes to hide pens under the rug, does any one else have a pet that does silly things? Even though my cat has toys, and has loads of attention, if she finds a pen she will hide it under the front room rug, even taking them fron the kids bedrooms. Still at least i know where to find a pen when i need one. Im not alone then, still it does give them character, and they are the cutiest pets in the world. # snailhoc - try looking under any rugs you might have.
What would be good rug to go in this room? I need an area rug for my living room and here is a picture of my inspiration room compliments of Pottery Barn. http://www.myra.homeip.net/images/potterybarnden.jpg The carpet in my living room is like a beigeish oatmeal color. I also have small kids so something that could hide stains easily would be nice. My walls are white and my woods are Cherry...suggestions? Any specific hints in picking out a rug?
Do those rug doctor carpet cleaners really work well? I have some minor dirt stains in my beige carpet from my kids. Not such a big deal that I want to replace carpet but I'd like to deep clean it for the holidays. I purchased a steam cleaner from Walmart and I wasn't impressed. My last resort is to rent a rug doctor. Just wanted to get anybody's opinion whose used one before. Thanks.
Has anyone had experience with selling items on ebay? Hey there, with the holidays just around the corner finances are very tight, been a rough year. I thought of going out and getting a part-time job, but I have two kids that need help with homework, dinner made, etc. etc. So I was thinking of doing crafts such as jewelry, rugs, needlepoint pillow cases, towels, etc. I was thinking of selling things on ebay and was wondering if anyone has ever tried this and what your experience was. Please let me know. Thank you.
Moon Sand - is it easy to clean up out of rugs and so forth? Our Kids are really bugging us for Moon Sand the product on TV that says it never dries out. We have carpeting through out our home and with kids between the ages of 3 and 9 that have the normal tendancey of kids that age. I know this will be all over the rugs and floors. If anyone has this product how hard is it to clean up. I mean I would love to get it for them but already have one rug we have to replace because of the kids and their messes. Any help is appreciated.
Affordable way to clean area rug? I have an area rug that was clearly labeled "do not dry clean". I have found that mild carpet cleaner cleans the rug sufficiently but I am having trouble finding something to clean the white tassels on the edges. I am afraid harsh chemicals can ruin the rest of the rug. With 2 kids, 2 pets, and a husband who never seems to remember that work boots remain outside, those tassels are really starting to look dirty. Any recommendations?
What is the best carpet/upholstery deep cleaning machine you can buy? I have thought about renting a Rug Doctor, but for the amount I use it with Pets and Kids at home, I would rather invest in a deep cleaner that will hold up over time and really do a great job. I have professionals come out about twice a year, but i still need something powerful to help me between their visits.
Neglected Kids? Bad environment? So I have this friend. She has 7 kids.. ages 19, 16, 11, 8, 5, 3, and 7 months. Their house is a complete disaster. So much junk, clutter, dirt... barely a walk way through rooms. The kitchen has dirty dishes piled up that look months old. The rugs looks like it has never been vacuumed and parts of the house have no rugs, just plywood floor. The house is just a complete wreck and is sooo horrible. She is my friend, but now I want to report her to social services! What makes a house unsafe for kids? They have a crib for the 7 month old, but it is filled to the brim with junk so I don't even know where he sleeps. They have running water and heat, so is their house a concern? Is excessive dirt and clutter enough for Social Services to be involved. I have been telling her for months and months to clean her house, and she has been telling me she has been working on it... but I just saw it today and it is HORRIBLE! Should I report her?
How do you cope when the truth hurts parents? I am a teacher with a lot of experience with ASD students; ASDs also run in my family. As a child, I had a form of linguistic disability which relates to an ASD (although my verbal communciation is now fine). Sometimes I have to speak with parents and carers, and be very blunt with them about their kids' behaviours; basically what they cannot help and what they can but choose to do wrongly. I find it very hard because parents ALWAYS assume I don't know and am 'not being understanding' and that I've no experience of what I am talking about because I am able to seperate the behaviour from the syndrome and not just say 'ah poor thing'. This is not the case. Anyone else have to give hurtful truths as part of their job? How do they do it without being tempted to sweep things under the rug to avoid being called mean? I know people are helping, but just so people understand; I'm not a 'pushy' lecturing person. Maybe I exaggerated when I said 'always'- but some people do. They see me as a teacher with limited understanding of their issues, refusing to acknowledge maybe I do know what I'm saying 'first hand'.
Where do you get wine away stain remover? I saw the Q&A about the kool-aid in the carpet. I can get almost everything out my kids do, with the exception of a nice big red stain on their light beige rug. oxi-clean works for everything, except for this. where do you get the wine away? never heard of it or saw it before.
How to confront rude and trashy neighbors? I have dealt with trashy neighbors for 3 years now. They have everything from old barbecue pits, broken outdoor toys, tires, beer bottles, old non working cars in their FRONT YARD. Their kids and dog have trashed our yard, even playing baseball in our front yard hitting the ball towards our house and cars, breaking our tree, their dog constantly brings trash and poops in our yard. We put up a 6ft fence all the way up on that side of our lot in which we paid half with them. We thought that would end it. Nope, their dog continues to get over here through another unfenced side, they leave their rugs hung over for weeks. Trash and beer bottles are thrown over here. Last week, I threw the rug back over and my husband said that they asked him if it was him who threw it over. My husband said no, not knowing I am the one who did. God, I dont know how to confront them either, since we've been friendly to them for so long. How do I confront? What can I do? We own, they rent. NIGHTMARE HERE!
