Where in North Carolina are Karastan rugs made...?

Is there anyone out there who is an expert on Karastan carpets(Design: sarouk; pattern 755)? Rug is 9 x 12 & has #891754. Bought by grandparents used. Believe circa 1920s. I would like to know value.

Can I paint my walls a off white (Berber wool) on top and the bottom under the chair rail a shade of green? I have dark wood furniture with oak hardwood floors (medium shade) with Karastan oreintal rugs on top of the hard wood. The rug is maroon with a pattern of navy/peachy beige and gray blue. I am more concerned about thwether the green shad would go with the carpet or should I opt for blue/ gray which might be real darkening.
