Underlays

Should I use my old carpet underlay for laminate or should I buy specialty laminate floor underlay?

I am thinking of buying laminated flooring for my lounge. I have carpet underlay which is in great condition Should I spend the money on new laminate floor underlay or is it possible to use my current carpet underlay? I don't want it to be like the laminated floor moves when I step on it..... obviously Thanks in advance. I am planning to do this myself I've already done it once but I thought I could save abit of money if I used the carpet underlay insted of buying the special one again.

  1. Specialty laminate floor underlay.
  2. are you planning on doing the job yourself or is a professional coming in to do it? if some one is doing it for you i would suggest you take out your old carpet and leave the underlay for them to see and advice you. normally the underlay is included in the price with the laminate so it might just be better to have the new one. if your doing it yourself then only you can judge if your old underlay is worth keeping in but its not like your going to change the laminates any time after wards so you might as well put the new one in. good luck...........
  3. Just bought Pergo last month. No underlayment needed. The boards already had a soft backing. Every year the products keep getting better and easier to use.
