How do I make my own rugs?

All of the rugs that I have seen are very expensive. So I want to be able to make my own. I need large rugs for the living room and dining room.

1. there are three kind i know of, hook rugs, braided rugs, and weaving, all are simple to do and go to Rug Making .com to see how
2. you can make them from old clothes..... just cut them into strips.crochet the together, this way you can reuse old material....... choose you colors wisely so the sort of match. use the same type...eg. cotton, wool, wash and wear you might also consider sewing the strips together. get a biggest hock and begin..........very colorful. i did one in blue for my kitchen....It will be round.......
3. you can go to a craft store and find the book that will tell you how to make it, but i suggest making a rag rug, they look pretty cool, and they are old fashioned, you just use pieces of fabric, like used clothes or old ones the have tares in them, anything like that will work
