I have some sort of carpet underlay on my floors will laminate be okay on top of that or do i need the ...?
damp proof membrane? The front room underlay does have a large mark on that kind of looks like damp, but the rest of the rooms are fine. If i was to remove the carpet underlay Then could i put the laminate straight on to the concrete. I am trying to do things quickly & cheaply as i am due to give birth this saturday!! but i do need it to be safe aswell.

- Carpet underlay might be a little too soft, and you only need a membrane if you have solid concrete floors that have a damp problem.
- Use the underlay designed for laminate floors in fact for the best install you should really upgrade the underlayment to the better quality available you will get a better sound when you walk on it which makes it seem more woodlike
- you cannot use carpet underlay with laminate as it is much too soft and would allow the floor to bend or flex when walked on. If the floor is concreete you should use a one piece(no joints) damproofing membraine 1st (looks like a big sheet of plastic) then an apropriate underlay which unlike carpet underlay comes as boards made out of a low density fibre material. or if your floor is very level you could use the cheeper (but not as good) foam underlay which comes on rolls.
