how can i clean my carpets after getting rid of headlice?

me and my son realised that we have headlice a couple of months a go when he started nursery. i am planning on getting rid of all or MOST of them by this weekend. i know how to clean all my clothes and bedding just incase they have any headlice on them, for eg clean them with very hot water and put them in the tumble dryer. but how can i make sure that theres non left on the carpets? please help? for jovi freak: i have tried to get rid of them before, but keep failing, because maybe im not able to get rid of the eggs on my own, but this weekend im getting my aunt to clear them out of my hair.

  1. headlice cant live in carpets etc.they have to live on humans to take blood. fleas that animals get live on material but not headlice
  2. Get new ones.
  3. You could hire one of those Rugdoctor machines from Morrisons
  4. they can't survive on your carpets, they live on blood from your head. As long as you vaccum your home regularly there shouldn't be a problem. You noticed the lice a couple of months ago yet you are only getting rid of them now???
  5. headlice rely on humans for survival, so the chances of lice being in your carpets are very small. but if you're concerned use a flea/tick dusting powder then vacuum it up. and clean your carpets with a rug doctor. also- there are some indoor lice killers (but those are mainly used to kill lice on livestock)
  6. Shampoo your carpet with the same stuff,.
  7. Headlice DO NOT live in carpets! So no need to give them any special treatment;
  8. If headlice fall from the hair after combing, it is because they have broken their legs. After that they cannot lay eggs and will die. There was a motto when my kids were younger - Break their legs, they can lay eggs!
  9. CARPET SHAMPOO
  10. murderer leave the headlice alone they are liveing things dont b so evil long live headlice
  11. You need a Nitty Gritty comb! IT works! The NitFree comb removes and destroys 100% of all lice and eggs with its patented microgrooved steel teeth. www.nittygritty.co.uk You can get one at most chemists or online and I promise it's not just any comb! Don't worry about the carpets - just a good suction hoover. The lice cannot jump and die rapidly without sucking your blood from your scalp. It's such horrible thing but everyone gets it esp related to school nurseries! Remember to use conditioner on everyone's hair to keep them from returning as their legs find it tricky to grip on slippery hair.
  12. headlice can ONLY live on hair,they will starve to death very quickly once they leave your head & you are very unlikely to be re-infested unless your head comes into contact with someone else with headlice,simply vacuum your carpet & all the now dead ones will be gone.
  13. If they have dropped on the floor after removal from your son's head then simply vacuum them up. You may be confusing head-lice with fleas. Head-lice can only survive on a scalp, but fleas can lurk in carpets for a long period of time and can be difficult to remove. Why has it taken you several months to remove them, it should only take an hour to treat the scalp. All that unnecessary itching
