An embarrassing question about carpets, can you help me?

I do clean but recently I've found what I can only call .... slug trails .... on my carpets. I'm horrified obviously and I've never seen a single one myself but they seem to slither all over my flat and then vanish before I either wake up or get home from work. Is it possible this is happening and what can I do about it? I don't have a carpet in the passage, might this be the way in for them?

  1. around the perimeter of you carpets sprinkle salt this should see them off
  2. get some salt and place it near the place you think they come in
  3. That is scary.... i had it once it was to do with my washing machine the hole bit they came in the trick is to put slug pellets in where it is damp and possible access points please vote me as best
  4. place a small bowl of beer an the floor in a corner that will attracted them that also will tell you what kind of snails you have
  5. Slugs in the house are nothing to be embarrassed about, they come through open windows, doors and some times on the soles of your shoes. The short answer for stopping them is to put down slug pellets around your windows and doors. Also check your shoes when you come into the house. Slugs like cool moist dank environments and if in a house they soon dry out and die.
  6. Slug pellets, salt and anything anti-slug. Make sure its not your flat mate wiping his nose across the carpet first! Lol. Good Luck in getting rid of those slugs. Howevere just do NOT watch 'Slither' the film, okay??? Lol.
  7. Could be rats. Very difficult to get rid of
  8. If you have slugs, you can try salt, but that does not always work. Slugs also eat up Hostas and what you do to stop them is to put a saucer, or a flat pan, with beer in it. Slugs are good drunks and will drown in their beer.
  9. bets thing to do is where you think they are coming in is leave a plate of salt honest try it tonight and let me know what happens.when the slugs go on the salt they turn inside out.
  10. I figure your place is a little on the "wet side"and cool. Slugs don't like dry or heat. Try drying things out with a fan(at least) under sinks and areas where there is moisture. I think they are not partial to salt either. ....so sprinkle some down around the edges of your flat whereever there is moisture. It seems to me that it is a rather unhealthy place for you to live if it is that humid.
  11. Salt, a lot of it wherever they seem to be coming from- just follow the trails.... then watch them breakdance with pain!!
  12. In the garden, you get rid of slugs by putting a pie plate with beer near where they are. The slugs are attracted to the beer, and climb in the pie plate, but cannot get out. It might work. I'd then flush the beer and slugs down the toilet, myself. Repeat as necessary.
  13. Spread salt in the crawl space beneath the house.
  14. Definately sounds like slug trails. I know of three ways of trying to get rid of them, and if I were you I would try all three at the same time!!! 1. Saucer of Beer, they love it, slither in and drown. 2. Salt around the edges of your carpet/entrance point. Dissolves them, and won't do any harm to your carpets. 3. Slug pellets round the outside of where you think they're getting in and generally round the garden areas. Good luck with your slug busting - nasty beasties.
