How can I get bedding out of my hamsters fur?
My hamster has long fur by his bottom. He has bedding stuck in it REALLY good. Is there anyway I can get it out without hurting him or ripping out his fur?

- You really should trim his hair everynow and then so that the bedding won't get tangled. I suggest just cutting it out as best you can. It will grow back.
- although i don't have long haired little animals, i do use a litter for the bunny & guinea pig which is made from paper & comes in little clumps. it is called carefresh pet bedding & is environmentally friendly & biodegradable. it is not from a wood & it does not bother their resperatory system. they both like it & it does not seem like it will stick in their fur? the packaging shows hamsters on the back as well as most other cage animals. good luck! peace! pacrat =^./.^=
- I would change bedding. Even if you get all the bedding out of his fur, more would get entangled the moment you put him back. A paper based bedding would be good, such as carefresh. You can also carefully trim a small amount of hair away from his bottom area. This will not only decrease the amount of bedding being caught in his fur, but with prevent the hamster from soiling himself.
